About

I build backend systems that have to keep working — including the custom glue that turns a marginal idea into a shippable product. Most of my work has been on small teams where the person who writes the code is the one on call when it breaks, so I write code I'd be comfortable debugging at 3am: tests I trust, and observability that helps me find the problem fast.

I've been in software for about a decade — five-plus of those professionally, mostly in startups where "should we build this?" usually means "yes, and you". The interesting problems for me live below the application layer: how a TCP session behaves under partition, why a query slows at 10× load, what a heartbeat actually tells you. I believe in learning how things work under the hood — it always beats just knowing the frameworks. So I dig until I find the root cause instead of working around it.
